The Salmon Chasers yacht is a 30' Villa Vee made by Cruisers here in Wi. She is long, wide and stable and built to handle the conditions Lake Michigan can dole out. There is a flushing bathroom, which is not available on all salmon fishing charters. It has an ample back deck for fighting fish and hanging out with high sides. Walking through a sliding glass door you enter the cabin that has room to sit 4 at the dinette table and 2 more in the side chairs. The bed upfront is covered with tackle, but there won't be time to sleep anyway.
The Two Rivers charter boat has 4 new Cannon Mag 10 STX downriggers. We run a Sub Troll off one of those riggers to tell us our speed and temp at various depths. There is a Lowrance GPS/sonar screen at the helm by the captain, as well as one on the back deck for the mate. Also at the helm is a Raymarine GPS/sonar/radar unit that allows us added safety in the dark or fog. We also have a Raymarine autopilot to help steer while we are trolling. Powering the boat are 2 305 engines.
All the necessary safety gear is on board as well. Flares, multiple fire extinguishers, first aid kit, etc. The boat is inspected each year by the US Coast Guard in Two Rivers. And the crew takes pride in keeping the old girl looking and running good.
The fishing gear is all high end. Reels are top models from Abu Garcia and Penn. Line on them is Big Game, Spiderwire Stealth, or Berkley Flouro. Spoons we use are either Pro King, Moonshine or Warrior. Flies that catch the kings we are after are Munch Me Flies or Mr Derks. The flashers are a mix of blades, most with custom tape and paint. We are always trying new things to increase our catches and keep us a top Wisconsin salmon charter.
